母乳育児とは何ですか?また、どのように行うのですか?

Have you ever heard of the term "breastsleeping"? I think it´s one of the many things that breastfeeding mom discover along their postpartum journey, sometimes feeling very lonely in their understanding and lack of support around all of this.

Mom, I want to sleep at your breast!

Breastsleeping essentially means baby sleeping at the breast. This often happens naturally especially to very little babies who feel reassured and often sleep better when staying latched on their mom´s breast with the nipple in their mouth. Far from being like a pacifier, there are a million reasons this skin-to-skin proximity helps babies sleep.

But let´s be real, it can also be really annoying. We moms already feel tired enough and often touched out, the last thing we need is not being able to let our nipples breathe. You might love your baby with all your heart and still feel like this is a big much. And it´s ok to feel this way.

Baby, I´m right here with you.

No place for sleep training here. This definitely isn´t the right website for this type of advice and you´ll only find a very gentle approach here.

One of the first recommendations I´ve come across for helping baby continue sleeping without staying latched on is trying to gently remove the nipple from their mouth. But how? Many breastfeeding experts recommend carefully putting your little finger in your baby´s mouth to slightly open it and slowly remove your nipple. Apparently it does miracles for many moms... But not for you? Welcome to the boob-addicts club! ;)

How to feel comfy when baby breastsleeps?

It´s not going to change any minute, is it? If you´re one of us moms who had a breastsleeping baby for some time, the next question is how the hell are you supposed to get some sleep, and definitely how to feel comfortable enough to get some "good" sleep?

The main issue for me was finding the right kind of sleepwear. Since baby and I were co-sleeping or more precisely bedsharing (baby in my bed), I needed pyjamas that were warm enough to not need risky bedding. All maternity nursing pyjamas I tried were either not covering enough (why would you want cleavage!?) or not practical at all for cosleeping and especially not for keeping your boob out all night.

Do I really need to cut holes in my shirt?

I thought I was alone here... Until I realized I absolutely wasn´t! Literally the reason I invented Pyjamam was as a cuter alternative than a sweater with holes. Once I thought about a concept around this, several other features that could help moms like me came to mind.

It didn´t take long to realize this was indeed needed and I find it so cute to think that hundreds of babies are sleeping kissing teddy bear faces!
